New Blog PostsWhen patients suffer from symptoms like headaches, migraines, dizziness, and inability to focus for long periods of time, a full evaluation is required from our eye doctor who specializes in binocular vision dysfunction. Unlike traditional optometry, where an eye doctor checks a number of key visual skills, sometimes there is a very subtle, nearly undetectable problem in the way both eyes work together.
At our office, we specialize in this area, beyond the normal scope of an optometric clinic to see if you are suffering from binocular vision dysfunction or another eye condition. In the event of a fractional misalignment of the eyes, horizontal or vertical, we’ll be able to provide proper treatment.
These measurements are very subtle & often not visible. People may have a head tilt or people might consider you look asymmetric (ie. one eye looks to be above the other or shoulder above the other), yet many people with a misalignment don’t realize they have one.
Of course, the opposite is true as well. In some cases, patients who thought they were struggling with a binocular vision disorder were really struggling with an amblyopic condition, where vision is problematic in just one eye requiring a different style of treatment. In one instance, we identified that an ocular melanoma patient benefited from prism in their prescription but had nothing to do with any physical misalignment.
The goal of our office is to get both eyes working the best way possible.
